If your Absolift Garage Door Motor isn’t working as expected, you might be able to fix it by resetting it to its original programming. While there’s no single “reset” button, following the four steps below will help you troubleshoot common motor issues and get everything running smoothly again.
Having trouble coding your Absolift Remote Control?
Before assuming there’s an issue with the remote, check that all the settings below are correctly configured. In many cases, incorrect motor settings—not the remote itself—are the root of the problem.
Important: Each step must be followed exactly in the order provided to ensure all settings are applied correctly.
Start by disabling the photo beam setting on your Absolift Garage Door Motor. This is a necessary part of the reset process and must be completed before moving on.
Press and hold the SET button on the motorhead until the display shows P1.
Press the UP button twice to reach P3.
Press SET to view the current setting.
If you see HO, you’re all set.
If it shows H1, press DOWN until HO appears.
Once complete, the display will show — to confirm the setting has been applied.
Next, you’ll disable the auto-close function on the Absolift Garage Door Motor. This must be done to ensure the motor doesn’t operate unexpectedly during or after reprogramming.
Press and hold SET until the display shows P1.
Press UP three times to reach P4.
Press SET to check the setting.
The correct value is b0, which means the minimum time is selected.
If needed, press DOWN until you see b0.
Press SET again to confirm, even if b0 was already displayed.
When you see —, the setting is saved.
This step ensures that the door connected to your Absolift Garage Door Motor is not locked and can move freely during programming and use.
Press and hold SET until P1 appears.
Press UP four times to reach P5.
Press SET to view the current setting.
The display should show uL.
If it doesn’t, press DOWN until uL is visible.
Press SET to confirm the function, even if it was already set.
The display will show — when it’s done.
Finally, you need to set the door’s open and closed positions. This ensures your Absolift Garage Door Motor knows where to start and stop during each cycle.
Set the open position:
Press and hold SET until P1 appears.
Press SET again to enter OP mode.
Press and hold UP until OP flashes.
Continue holding until the door reaches the desired open position (just past the garage entrance).
If you’re unsure whether the door has opened fully or stopped in the right place, consider asking someone to assist you. A second pair of eyes can help avoid setting the limit incorrectly.
Press SET to save the open position.
Set the closed position:
When CL appears, press and hold DOWN until CL flashes.
Let the door close completely, then release the button when it touches the floor.
If you’re unsure whether the door is fully closed, or exactly when it touches the floor, it’s helpful to get someone to watch from the side.
Avoid holding it too long to prevent motor damage.
Press SET to confirm the closed position.
The motor will then automatically open and close the door to map the settings. When complete, the display will show —.
